Ready to explore new tech career opportunities after military service? Along with online support and digital training options, in-person events are an excellent way to meet and learn from successful tech and cyber professionals, many of whom are ex-Forces themselves.

Pathway into Tech’ is an upcoming event for tech career curious members of the Forces/ex-Forces community. Hosted by the Google Veterans Network in collaboration with TechVets and the Forces Employment Charity, this event aims to provide a platform for veterans, reservists, and partners/spouses of those in the military to explore rewarding careers in the tech industry and network with the pros.

What to Expect at ‘Pathway into Tech’

The afternoon-long event will include educational panels, networking, and more. Here’s what will happen on the day.

• 1300-1330: Arrival/Registration

• 1330 Keynote: Attendees will be addressed by reps from the Google Veterans Network (GVN) emphasising the untapped talent that individuals from the Armed Forces community bring to the tech sector. GVN itself will also be showcased, highlighting the professional support system it has available to veterans transitioning into tech.

• 1345 Panel Session: A panel session will feature veterans who have successfully made the leap. They will share their personal journeys and success stories, offering valuable insights and advice to the audience and taking questions directly from attendees.

• 1430: Break

• 1500 Employer Presentations: Leading tech companies that are looking to hire people from the Armed Forces community will have the chance to pitch their organisations directly to the audience. These presentations will provide a glimpse into what it’s like to work for these companies, and showcase the real tech job opportunities they have available.

• 1600 Break for Networking: Attendees will be able to interact directly with the speakers, tech team members, and recruiters from participating companies. You can explore live roles, discuss potential career paths, and build valuable connections. It’s a massive chance to gain firsthand knowledge of the professional ex-Forces networks within top tech companies like Google.

• 1800: Close
