As 2024 came to a close, TechVets, a programme of the Forces Employment Charity, celebrated a year of growth, achievement, and impact. Through transformative training, strategic partnerships, and a robust community, we have empowered thousands of veterans, service leavers, reservists, and their families to transition into thriving tech careers. Here’s a look back at the highlights of our most successful year yet.

TechVets has supported over 2,823 members in digital upskilling this year, with an average of 156 members accessing technical training monthly. These programmes are designed to bridge the gap between military experience and the skills needed for today’s tech roles.

1. Transforming Lives Through Training

Key Training Achievements:

620 scholarships for Google Career Certifications in areas like IT Support, Digital Marketing, and Cybersecurity.

280 participants in Cybrary and TryHackMe Cybersecurity Training.

137 trainees in Microsoft Azure, MS 365, and MS Office skills with Netcompany.

250 candidates pursuing Cisco’s CCNA certification through the Networking Academy.

Secure Development Training offered to 51 members through Safestack.

By focusing on areas like cybersecurity (51% of placements), IT project management (19%), and data specialisms (12%), TechVets ensures its members enter fields with high demand and long-term growth potential.

2. Unprecedented Employment Success

Last year, TechVets helped 237 members secure new roles in the tech industry, supported by over 700 job opportunities on the TechVets Jobs Board.

By building confidence and technical expertise, TechVets empowers its members to land roles at leading companies, transforming their military skills into civilian success stories.

3. A Year of New Connections and Community Growth

TechVets’ online community grew by 738 new members last year, bringing the total to 4,982 members. This vibrant network provides veterans and their families with opportunities to share insights, seek mentorship, and access exclusive resources.

Milestones:

57 new employers joined as partners, including Expedia and Barclays.

• Hosted ‘Get into Tech’ events with Cognizant, Google, and other leading companies.

4. Big Wins and Industry Recognition

TechVets’ Rachael Bailey was honoured with the Ex-Forces in Business Award, showcasing the team’s commitment to excellence and advocacy for the veteran community.

5. Looking Ahead: Opportunities for 2025

The momentum continues in 2025 with multiple ‘Get into Tech’ events planned across the UK. Partnerships with companies like Cognizant promise even more training opportunities, networking events, and career pathways for TechVets members.
