TechVets: Celebrating our Volunteer Amanda Crossley

Meredyth Grant

At TechVets we are all about community. Today we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers & in particular to November volunteer of the month Amanda Crossley.

Amanda previously served in the Royal Navy as a Warfare Specialist and Gunner before moving into events management and setting up her own business. Like many other small businesses her company was significantly affected by the Covid 19 pandemic and Amanda decided to retrain. She switched careers and upskilled in cyber security before securing a job as a Client Relations Manager at the Northwest Cyber Resilience Centre in Manchester. Amanda also volunteers for the Cyber Helpline.

On top of this, Amanda is playing a vital role in developing the TechVets online support network as the latest member of our volunteer force – our very own Community Guru!

Why is she so great? TechVets CEO James Murphy explains:

“When Amanda first joined TechVets as a member, it was like somebody had lit a fire under the community. She brings to the community an injection of infectious passion in building a community that supports all veterans regardless of what stage in their cyber security career transition they are in. She also has an invaluable knowledge of industry opportunities and events and is an approachable, vital member of our online team. Our Discord community is the most important part of what TechVets is about and since Amanda joined us, there has been a 22% increase in community activity – incredible considering it was already an active community when she arrived!”
