In our latest TechVets podcast to coincide with International Women’s Day 2024, we had the pleasure of welcoming Seru Nainoca, a veteran with a remarkable story that spans continents, careers, and considerable challenges. 

Seru Nainoca’s journey into the military was as unexpected as it was transformative. Initially enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts in Fiji, Seru’s path took a dramatic turn when she decided to join the British Armed Forces. This decision marked the beginning of an eight-year career that would shape her life in ways she had never imagined. Fastforward to the present day and Seru has finished her degree, retrained in the legal profession and moved into a tech career.

During her service, Seru was stationed in Germany and deployed to Canada and Iraq, experiences that not only broadened her horizons but also deepened her appreciation for different cultures and the importance of teamwork. These deployments were among the highlights of her military career, offering unique challenges and opportunities to showcase her skills and resilience.

However, transitioning from military to civilian life was not without its hurdles. Seru faced the daunting task of navigating a new career path without a clear plan or support system. It was during this time that she found invaluable assistance from the Forces Employment Charity, which helped her translate her military skills into civilian job opportunities.
