At TechVets we are all about community. Today we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers & in particular to July volunteer of the month Dan McCoy.

Why is Dan so great? TechVets Director James Murphy explains:

“Dan has been a phenomenal support to me over this past 18 months. Not only has he continued to rally the Scotland Chapter, he has also been reviewing CVs as one of our volunteer CV reviewers. Dan has also supported me at events bringing his great industry knowledge and technical prowess to help service leavers understand the benefits of a career in cyber security.

Dan has a great deal of knowledge, but also tremendous a amount of passion for helping others – he is a fantastic ambassador for TechVets and a great role model.”

Daniel McCoy served as a Communications System Engineer in the Royal Corps of Signals and left the British Army at his 12 year point finishing as an Operations Sergeant in 32 Signal Regiment. Daniel fulfilled several roles in the Royal Signals such as service desk analyst, service desk manager, network administrator, network engineer, technical training and development lead and finally an operations Sergeant aligned to UK Operations.

“I chose to volunteer in TechVets because when I joined everything seemed to be set up for members in the London area. There was very little opportunities or events for anyone in Scotland. I decided to change that by organising the first event in Scotland. The turnout was great, and the feedback was immense. After that I decided to keep trying to push to ensure veterans settling in Scotland had just as much help as everyone else.”
